Melbourne Florida is centrally located on Florida’s Space Coast. Melbourne is 30 minutes from the Port, 45 min to Orlando, and close to lots of shopping and entertainment. Melbourne is just north of Palm Bay and just south of Viera. Melbourne also goes from Mainland Florida to the beaches.
Access roads from include the Beachline Expressway (528), U.S. 192 and I-95. These major roadways make traveling in and out of Melbourne easy.
Most of Melbourne is located on the mainland, while some of it is located on a barrier island. This space is separated by the Indian River Lagoon. The barrier island is a narrow strip of land that separates the Lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean. These two pieces of land are connected by a pair of four-lane, high-rise bridges — the Melbourne Causeway and the Eau Gallie Causeway.

Today, the City is approximately 41 square miles, with about 75% of that land in use. In April 2010, Melbourne reported having just under 80,000 residents according to U of F Bureau of Economic and Business Research.The population of Melbourne continues to grow at a modest rate.
Municipal government is responsible for providing vital services to City residents. In addition, drinking water services are provided to customers in a regional area that includes several other municipalities. To accomplish its mission, the City organization includes more than 800 employees.
